EXPLORE NEW BRILLIANT IDEAS CONFERENCE LVIV 20-21.08.2026

Planning our summer conference, we wanted to give teachers more than a programme. We wanted two days that would send everyone back to school with full notebooks, fresh energy and the feeling of belonging to a community where ideas are shared, not kept. And judging by your smiles and your feedback, we did it!

Let's step inside MriyDiy School in Lviv one more time. We started with the language itself.
Our international guest Jon Hird (University of Oxford) invited us to bring real, everyday English into the classroom. He also challenged us to decide when "non-standard" grammar is simply how people speak. Richard Chinn joined us online from King's College London to show how to notice and use the emergent language that appears in every lesson. We went back to the very beginning, too. Olena Lysytsia showed how language grows in little learners from listening to their first words, and why short, active stories stick. Oksana Vakhil explored what truly separates young learners from very young ones, and Caterina Zougli, joining us online from Greece, reminded us that early English builds confidence and empathy as well as vocabulary.

The demo lessons were the heart of the conference. Real children, real tasks, real English! In Olesia Nikolaievych's Delicious CLIL Lab, pre-schoolers in chef hats cooked up a lesson in front of us. Natalia Liashko's fifth-graders built DNA models to find out whether we are all the same or all different. Watching ideas come alive with actual learners reminded us why we do this job. CLIL and STEAM ran through both days like a bright thread: Oleksandra Sydorenko and Tetiana Mariuk taught science with a burger. Anna Levshun turned the room into a laboratory of the human body. Natalia Radko let Ukrainian art speak through the paintings of Kateryna Bilokur. Rymma Semenova, in her very first offline talk, showed how one coursebook page can become a whole CLIL lesson. Nataliya Dyachuk revealed how visual literacy can become a superpower for teachers and students alike. Yana Kozachenko opened Day 2 with a plenary on human-centred lesson design. She showed how semantic waves help learners move between abstract ideas and their own experience, and how CLIL and AI-supported scaffolding can turn competencies into real meaning. And, of course, we talked about the everyday classroom, where things either work or they don’t: Rimma Buchok shared how to get children thinking in English. Mariana Petrechko took reading beyond decoding. Iryna Prysiazhniuk proved that interactive does not have to mean chaotic. Tetiana Lesyk helped us hear, feel and say difficult English sounds. Natalia Zachynska guided us towards stronger IELTS Academic Writing. Olha Kachanova showed how art therapy can help learners name and manage their emotions in English. Yuliia Kuzenko proved that creativity can be low-prep and still high-impact.

Beyond the sessions, the atmosphere did the rest. There were warm conversations over coffee, a hot, homely lunch that took some of us straight back to our school canteen days, balloons, laughter, and photos with our speakers. Teachers arrived as colleagues and left as friends. None of this would have been possible without our partners. Every gift bag held something special, something useful, something for work and something for the heart.
